PRESQUE ISLE ME
Hi Guys,
We are still about two or more months before riding up here in northern Maine but I want to get ready and I know I need to replace my brake pads. Now I've been looking at pads on line and don't know which to use they have some which are (Sintered) whatever that means and some that are Kevlar, I don't want to do this twice so I'd like to use the right stuff the first time. Just for your info I ride two most of the time but do not consider myself to be an aggressive rider.
Thanks for your help.

I just put these on my bike. They are great. The double H is a slight upgrade from what Honda originally put on the bike but hey, the technology has improved since 1984. These pads give me a great feel and have nice power. I only have about 50 miles on them so they are still breaking in.

Pretty much you cant go wrong but for a big heavy bike that is often times ridden 2 up, I like having a little more oompf on my brakes.

From what I heard, Sintered pads are hard on disk that are not made for this type of pad. Why take a chance, pads are cheaper then disk.

Ill take braking performance over brake component longevity every time. That's a no brainer...

That's what I'm thinkin too, God knows the 83 front needs all it can get.
Pads are cheap enough, even these, to try out for awhile and may even help rough up the disk to put organics back on.

Galfer Green racing brakes, are Kevlar & not sintered, they polish your disc's to look like chrome. Matt Maladdin wears a Galfer patch on his leathers, wins a lot of races.

Nailed it. Lol. People don't win races by. Layin in the brakes :Doh2:

True enough! Don't knock what you haven't tried, :headscratch: used them since early 90's. Everybody that have tried them have at the very least liked them, :good: most have loved them & continued using. :thank_you: Only complaint was pads wore faster & were thinner to begin with than factory. My discs look like new at 77,000, & bike squats when they're hit hard, progressive upgrades front & rear help. :moped:

Sounds good, mine squats when I hit the brakes but that is only because of worn out springs. Running 60psi in the rear suspension and still can't get her on the center stand anymore :(

Only squats when hit so hard tires leaves black stripes on the pavement, smooth as silk steady as a rock . Not sure if one could keep it upright with stock suspension as it's too soft when new, & oil's too thin. Brakes may not stop any quicker but better feel, & discs cost a lot more than pads. But you use what you want, hunks of metal do grab, even if its brass.

S B S makes great brake pad's as well, :good: they wear faster than Galfers do, & rear's got too close in the life of a set of tires for me. :nea: If you think you don't use brakes to win races, you haven't watched many races. :smilie_happy: They don't keep gas wide open all the time, might use them just a little to win. :Doh2:
