I looked at 3 different owners manuals and all say do not screw in to check level.

That's the way that I check the CBRs and any other engine with a screw in dip stick

Do you wipe the stick clean and stick it in without threading it in then read it or thread in then unthread to read it?
don't you have my owners manual to check for stuff like this ??? :D

the dip stick should not be screwed in

The main reason I don't just Google everything is so other members here might see it and then they know too.

Kind of a process for me but that way I am consistent.
I do have a slight leak I have been watching throughout this oil change.

Usually 1x per week
I put the wing on center stand after returning from my commute (57mi ea way)
Let it sit for 5-30 minutes to drain down and stabilize.
Unscrew stick, wipe it clean then set it into the hole just till stick would be ready to thread in.
Pull it back out and read the level, wipe it off and repeat.

I usually look at color as well as I have only put about 5k miles on this ride and just getting to know her.
