I picked up a set of cx500 shocks to replace the tired for shocks on my 1100.

It appears that the bushing holes are not big enough for the 1100. Can I swap out the bushing with larger. iD of the actual shock hole seems to be the same on both sets, its the iD of the inside bushing hole that is slightly different.

Thanks gents.

Ok good to know. Shall I assume the proper bushings are tough to find given the water hose method mentioned above?

Honestly I never looked for the bushings. I had the hose on hand left over from changing hoses in my truck.

Upper and lower bushings ARE available. I just replaced mine not too long ago. Got them from Either Bike Bandit or Cheapcycleparts...don't remember. I'll look and see where I got them....

Thanks McGovern, however those appear to be the cx500 ones. What I am hoping to do is put gl1100 bushings in cx500 shocks so that they bolt onto the stock gl1100 chassis.

Good news....it is the same rubber bushing for the 1100 and they are available!

I'm confused. I am wondering why what I have won't fit.
Gl1100 stock top bushing is rubber with no metal sleeve. Fits over the frame post which measures 16mm diameter. The larger of the two bushing holes in the cx500 shock has a metal sleeve in it with iD 12mm and an oD of almost 16mm. Hmmm maybe I should try to press the metal sleeve out and give it a go...
