Ok guy's. 1981 gl1100. from side of switch assy. to end of handle bars are measuring 5". Both side's on both bike's. The grips I took off were right at the end of the handlebars.
I ordered a new set for 18 gl1100 and they came as 6 1/4" long. Which is about a little over a 1" over hang at end of bars.
I searched on line and see 150mm,130mm. Which I take I need the 130mm.
Talked to KURYAKYN because there site shows #6180 fitting 1975-2015. But when I told them I needed 5" and not 6 1/4" they said they would fit fine.
Looking up honda parts 81 part numbers are different then 83.
What do you think.

I though of cutting them , but both ends of grip tube I need because the one end is were the chrome end cap screws in and other end as a lip for chrome ring.

Switch housings and lever perches can be moved further up the bars as long as the wiring is outside the bars.
