I was just asked to start a thread on these bikes and Dan said OK! So... I sold My old 83 std.2 years ago after I picked up an 02 VT1100 Shadow Sabre. I still have it, but last year while browsing my dealers website I came across an ST1100 for the right price and I figured why not and keep the Sabre too! After some haggling back and forth I scored this 01 ST1100 with 53k on it for $3800 cash. They were asking $4299. I had been on the Sabre for a year so it took a little adjusting to. Boy it goes! It's about the same weight as 83 std.was. Silky smooth engine, and very nimble!

The day I paid it off! :yahoo:

I don't think my back would allow me to ride something like that. Looks a lot like the Kawasaki Concours. I have enough trouble staying at legal speeds on my wings. Looks like fun though. :thanks:

As far as the riding position is concerned, I put 2" swivel risers from ROX on it and that changed everything. The speeding issue is all on you guys! We're supposed to be adults so for the sake of our sport, we need to show some self control! :smilie_happy:

I also replaced the grips with something fatter!

Unfortunately Mother Honda has seen fit to stop production of STs. For some reason the 1300s never quite got the following like that of the 1100s. The only negative I've ever heard of with the 13s is an occasional high speed wobble. Some have chocked it up to turbulence created if a Honda trunk is on the rear. I don't know of any conclusive evidence that the trunk is the culprit. The way I see it, if the bike is good enough for police forces to use them both here and abroad. That's good enough for me. Early 1100s did have alternator issues as well. The early ones were only 24 amp I believe I'm not sure what year was the cutoff, but later models sported a 40 amp alt.

Taking the Tupperware off just takes a little patients.
I'm leaving tomorrow morning for the first loaded ride up to Laconia NH for bike week and a camping vacation.

it looks a little bit like the Honda Pacific Coast . not the Motor , but the body parts . . the motor rocker covers sticking out of eachside makes my think about a Big Block , and makes my B/P rise ...... :smilie_happy: looks impressive . :laptop:

The V4 engine is great! Loads of torque. The speedo goes to 155 and I have no doubt it could do it!
