I am looking at buying either a late 1500 or early 1800. I have done some research on the idea but would happily listen to any suggestions on the pros and cons of either idea so anyone with thoughts on this please chime in

I upgraded from a very tired 1100(sure do miss old girlfriend) to a 1500 and I love it. She has 135k on the clock and still rides like new. She is bigger than an 1800 but that is what I wanted, that being said I love how she handles. I'm going through some of the regular higher mileage maintenence but that is to be expected. I've never owned an 1800 so I can't say anything about them... except I think the 1500 has better looks.

Don't worry though my 1000 isn't leaving me it will continue to be my work in progress lol. Ordered the jardine slip on mufflers for it with a few other needed items Friday. Also planning on getting the c 5 for it in a few weeks . But with the wife's medical issues she needs a much more comfortable ride than my 1000 can give her

i think i got my 1500 wing back in '08 I've had to have fork seals replaced, rear shocks, and the alternator replaced too. I've had timing belts done also. after having the shocks replaced the front springs showed their weakness so those got replaced. an 1800 wing feels smaller than a 1500 wing but put them on the scales and the 1800 weighs more. an 1800 also has a smaller trunk but it does have more power and much better brakes. the 1500 wing has a much better frame then any of the earyer wings , handles much better. the 1800 wing has a better frame than a 1500 wing and handles better. most people think their 1000, 1100, and 1200 wings handle better than 1500 and 1800 wings but they just steer quicker because of the shorter wheelbase. I've been debating lately because i want to get another bike in the next few years. I've been looking at 1800 wings, st-1300's and some older cb 1000f ( 1994 ). if i get the st-1300 or cb 1000f i'll still have the 1500 wing for longer road trips

Last year my wife and I rented an 1800 for the weekend. I absolutely loved it, the power and handling is incredible. I ran it up close to the century mark and she was very stable, wife wasn't.
I have ridden the 1500 and I didn't care for it in the mountains, especially two up, now I weigh 260 and wife about 140 so we were at the limit on the 1500 weight wise. I scrapped the ground a few times on the corners.
Reality is a bike is like a pair of shoes, what works on person well, may not work for someone else. As already stated, I love the handling of my 1100, even over the 1800, mainly because most of my riding is in the mountains.

worn shocks on the 1500 wing caused bad handling and the lack of ground clearance. the rear shocks on a 1500 wing consist of a standard spring shock on the left side and an air shock on the right. when the left shock goes bad the air shock is like riding on a pogo stick, its not designed to work without a good left shock so don't write off a 1500 wing at a good price just know in advance that you will be replacing rear shocks and front springs

He's right, replacing the left shock is on my to-do list as well.

~O~
replace them both with the progressive 416 air shocks

this is the wing I am looking at open to opinions. I have not seen it in person so only going from ad at this point https://amarillo.craigslist.org/mcy/4470720071.html
you don't see that color very often and around here you might get a '95 for that price and with about the same mileage. the rear shocks shouldn't be a problem for now but only you after riding it would know for sure. I have a few post on the problems I've had with my 1500 to help others that have upgraded. my recommended upgrades would be springs and shocks and a h.o. alternator. run the tires at the max recommended air pressure and adjust the suspension for a soft or firm ride

I would add to William's recommendations the Superbrace front fork brace. For under $50 it's the best mod I have done on my 1500. (The Hollywood mufflers maybe a close second) Go to Wingstuff.com, search Superbrace and read the buyer reviews. 37, all 5 star and they're all true.

the po of my 1500 wing had a super brace installed and I didn't know it until my friend mike installed the front springs. I gave him a super brace to install when he did the springs and he gave me the brace back and told me why, I forget its even there. I gave the brace to another friend

Ok I missed out on the wing I Posted the link to awhile back so here I am again with another bike I am looking at. This one is a 87 interstate I believe the miles to be around 70 K but that is an approximate guess . I have not seen this bike in person yet but have been told it runs good the main thing drawing me to this one is the price which seems to me to be close to a steal at 1195.00 I will attach a few photos I was sent on this one and my questions are what to look for with this one and opinions
