Interesting stuff still to me. I still will use nothing. However for conversation sake, anyone use these in tubes?

Tube rubber is much softer than tire rubber; I think the movement of the beads would quickly erode the inside of the tube and create a leak.

A fellow I know in northern Ontario and has a small HD business to keep himself busy mentioned that he had a chat with the Michelin rep about the Commander II tires. The rep mentioned that he should try them on his HD and not balance the tires - he mentioned that it was not needed. Being creatures of habit he was a bit skeptical but he did exactly that. He does; however, keep two 8 ounce bottles of the Ride-On formula in his saddlebags just in case.

Well truck has the beads in and it is smooth ! wow they worked ! amazing , The tire balance computers should UP the test speed to 55-60 MPH to be more accurate ,The kid said the new one he was using did test @ 35 mph ,,Waist of time and money, gonna pull the weights off the rear and do the beads also .. what a relief :salute:

When I was introduced to Counter Act beads 4 years ago, Ken at Kenco here in Sooke, told me about the beads the night before new tire install. I went home, researched the technology, and the next day when I took the bike to his shop, I agreed on the beads, but mentioned that when I take the bike home, I will take it through the magic number of 100 KPH (approx 60 MPH) and if I have a shimmy if any size, I will be back for a dynamic balance. Did exactly this, rode through and past 100 KPH, no shimmy just well balanced tires and have never looked back. Only change I have made is going to the Ride-On formula because I prefer it.

You are correct in that the balance speed for tires should be in the 60 MPH range. If you are just riding in town at 30 MPH or so, no need to balance.

Just some thoughts. Cheers

I have not balanced a tire in 10 years. My semi truck tires come with dynabeads and they clump or something every now and then producing the worse vibration.

I line up the paint mark with the valve stem and call it good.
Ya know..... thinking about when i took the weights off this weekend..... it certainly got my attention when i noticed the same amount of weight 180 degrees across the tire made no sense ? I bet your right they are prolly better off with out them, none of my bikes trucks boats cars RV ever go to any shop ,,i do all my own work, i feels good to now have eliminated the tire balance guy,,good grief lol

did a lot of reading on these things , The bead co said they can be used in tubes, These little nylon balls are very small, Did read about the tubes may have a wrinkle inside the tire when stuffed in and can cause a cluster, the negatives are they will turn to dust over time on some brands

I have reused the beads from tire to tire. Well 3 tires. Clean your shop vac and take the tire off and suck those babies up.
I just wanted to find out about the ride on. Which is what I filled the new tires with.
