This i a stupid question, I think I have a brain fart :Awe: . On my 84 1200 there is a cable coming from under the front of the motor I'm guessing it's for the neutral switch there is 6 wires on this cable. Now the problem I have is, where it connects there is only 3 wires with different colors, is this the right plug or not. It's the only plug I have left unless I use the wrong plug somewhere else. Maybe by the time I get an answer, the brain will work again :head bang:

Probably the right connection. Neutral switch on the 1200 also can indicate which gear it's in.

OK, I just woke up, I took the motor from the ASP to put on the standard that's why the difference in wires, will this still work. No fun getting old, you remember 40 years ago but not a few months or days. :headscratch: :headscratch: :headscratch: thanks guy's

I think i am following you here,,,maybe. You took a motor from your Aspencade and put on your 84 Standard...what year model motor was on your aspencade.
The motor is from the same year, 84

As far as I know, that's a straight forward swap with no gotcha's, except for the front plug gear position plug but that's easy to fix. The 84 standard would connect only to the neutral indicator wire and I think an overdrive light indicator.

Standard's, Interstates used a three wire connector, Aspy used a six wire. The only wire that has to be connected to start and run is the neutral wire, the light green-red on both the three and six wire connector is the neutral wire.

I remember reading on here which wire is which to set up a gear selection indicator with LED's using the 6-wire switch from an Aspy. Maybe someone with better search skills can hook you up with a link to that thread.

Three wire and six wire gear selector switch wiring.
