Tighter exhaust valve clearances.

Has anyone tried running the exhaust valve lash the same as the intake, similar to the 1000 spec? Why did Honda change the exhaust valve clearance on the 1100?. It is my understanding that clearances actually increase from cold due to the aluminum head expanding at a greater rate than the valve. Were there issues with the 1000's burning valves?

ive done it ...reason why ..idont like feddling around useing two guages....is it doing anything but running great no ....have no idea why they cahanged it ....

Clearance definitely increases as it warms up. I've checked it cold and hot, hot they are very loose.
Good question. I don't why Honda changed it.

Well, I'm going to run mine all valves set at .004 and we'll see.

I always adjust valves @.001"-.002" tighter. I find that compensates for valve train wear.

Good to know. It seems like the Honda spec is definitely on the conservative side.
