My friend wanted to go to the vintage bike show last weekend at the Lemay Museum in Tacoma Wa. I said sure it beats anything I should be doing, I thought, if we are going to the show, why not enter? we won't win anything because we actually ride our bikes but at least we get good parking.
The show was what you would expect, some bikes that were riders (the ones we liked best) and a ton of trailer queens owned by guys who never touched a wrench in their lives, drop it off at the builder pick it up shiny. That's all well and good but kind of misses the point of owning bikes in my opinion.
It was nice talking to the guys who rode and built their own bikes, sharing stories of projects past. The day was pretty good, I had a lot of interest in Aspy, and heard many stories of trips taken "on a bike just like that"

I think the stories are better when it concerns a bike that has miles on it and not one that has a bunch of wax on it.

There were a few bikes that some real stories to tell if they could talk, but that is what they are for. Bikes are built to ride, not dust

Funny, it seems wherever we go, someone "had a bike just like that" lol
I seriously doubt anyone used to have a bike "just like" yours Dan. Might be pretty difficult to find even one like it anywhere. I enjoy the car and bike shows much more if they arrive under their own power.

:music2: O should enter mine right now / It has bugs smashed into the front of the fairing.. :music2:

Your bike is super fine and exactly what I want one of these days.

Earlier this year in a KFC parking lot I had a couple in their seventies tell me about a bike they owned just like mine twenty years ago.

Might have been the same bike. :salute: It's yours to enjoy now!

Funny you should mention that, they told me about being in the first GWRRA chapter in Cali and my bike came with a Silicon Valley chapter Tulsa windshield cover. Before I quit Facebook I got in contact with that chapter to confirm the cover was one of theirs and it was.

Not a big show, i would guess around 300, price of admission did also get you into museum to check out cars and bikes in the Lemay collection. not as good as going to his house was before museum was built but still some nice stuff in there.
