    Starter issues

I just recently replaced my 1980-I starter and battery and the second time I tried to start it, it seems as though the starter is not fully engaging to spin the starter clutch. I cleaned the terminals on the start button so I know that is not an issue, is it possible that my solenoid is...

Looking for a fork brace for a 1980 I, or where I could purchase new.

    Painting your Bike

I could use a couple of tips. I painted mine a couple of months ago and it turned out pretty decent, considering the limited types of materials we are allowed to use here in Kalifornia. I ended up with three good coats of clearcoat over the base. My questions are regarding wet sanding the...

drag or not starting problem when hot

I just finished rebuilding my carbs, and that was one thing I noticed after I shut it down I had to let things cool down before it would restart. Rebuilt the starter earlier so I know that was not the problem, but it seemed like the timing was a bit advanced like it was firing too early, sure...

    Carburetor Overhaul, GL1100

Thanks much, I appreciate the tip and will try that out once I drain all the fuel and start over again after the carbs are done.

    Carburetor Overhaul, GL1100

I put in new fuel lines when I changed the pump, I think I will add a second filter after the pump. I am sure there is condensation because I am in the process of putting the bike back together after an overhaul of everything and paint, so I have not been able to get it on the road as of yet.

    Carburetor Overhaul, GL1100

This is the second attempt at going through these carbs in a years time. They are off of a 1980 parts bike, a standard with fairly low miles. I bought Randaks kit this time, and glad I did. It seems to keep building up a (gunk) inside the fuel bowls that ends up plugging one or more of the idle...

    Carburetor Overhaul, GL1100

Roady: Great read on the overhaul procedure. You mentioned that the 1980 and 1981 idle jets are not removable. I am in the process of rebuilding my 1980 carbs, and they are removable. Possibility that I might have a different year set of carbs?

    Sunglasses

I have used sunglasses for a long time now and when I had to go to perscription lenses, I even had some made with sunglass tint. None of this worked very well for me, so when it was time for me to replace my helmet I tried the Nolan flip up with the internal dark tinted shield behind the outer...
