FS: GL1000 parts- Toms single carburetor, VW Manifold

The thing that really got me was it was my first bike. I spent an entire riding season wrenching on it, desperately trying one fix after another so I could finally got on the road for what was going to be my first season ever. Never happened. Its fall already and even if I get a bike now I...

FS: GL1000 parts- Toms single carburetor, VW Manifold

That is a very generous offer indeed, but right now I am kinda burnt out on wrenching for a bit. I spent so many hours working on it just to have it not even run in the end, honestly I just want to start with a known good bike this time. Just want to add, since I can't seem to edit my original...

FS: GL1000 parts- Toms single carburetor, VW Manifold

Thanks- I am not out of the oldwing world though- I am going to save up some money and get another 75-77 GL1000, although this time I think I will pay a bit more to get one already running good :)

FS: GL1000 parts- Toms single carburetor, VW Manifold

Well after a long summer of trying everything I could to restore my 77 GL1000, I am throwing in the towel. :( Turns out the compression was not good (less than 100 each side). So I am selling the bike locally for parts, but I have a few of the upgrades I was installed to try and revive the...

How to wire a 3 wire aftermarket turn signal GL1000?

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but... would that increase the electrical draw by a significant amount? I know that we are dealing with not a lot of extra juice on the oldwings so we have to be careful of every little bit drawing extra power.

How to wire a 3 wire aftermarket turn signal GL1000?

Thanks, finally found an article that explained it. I should be able to just wire in the power and ground and leave the brown wire (running lights) just hanging> It will still just act like a regular 2 wire turn signal that way.

How to wire a 3 wire aftermarket turn signal GL1000?

I bought a neat aftermarket turn signal set from Ebay a couple of weeks ago. It came today and I really like it, except for the fact it has 3 wires, and my Gl1000 only has 2. I made sure when I bought it that the picture showed 2 wires, but its from China so its not worth trying to return...

Attaching weber on manifold made for Pict 34?

What I am wondering is if take this style of manifold I wonder if the square single barrel side of this style of adapter would fit diagonally and allow us to use a Weber carb with the above style of manifold

ugghhh... what now? Dyna install issue 77 Gl1000

Okay its fixed. I started checking out the kill switch. Power was going into it, but nothing coming out. Which kinda pointed me to the switch being bad. So I took it apart and it was kinda corroded. I cleaned it up and bam! Power restored. Bonus was that that the kill switch is one more...

ugghhh... what now? Dyna install issue 77 Gl1000

Correct, power is good going to the stop switch, but somewhere after the switch it dies. Or maybe even in the switch? Only one wire comes out of the switch, that is the black wire with white stripe that feeds the coil, and its dead.

ugghhh... what now? Dyna install issue 77 Gl1000

Ballast wires were connected, soldered and heat shrunk. I checked the voltage on them too and they are still good to go

ugghhh... what now? Dyna install issue 77 Gl1000

I am very confused right now. I bought a Dyna S unit complete with coils to solve the ignition issue I was having on my 77 Goldwing. Problem I am having is with the power supply line that feeds the coils (black with white stripe) Background. On the original wiring harness there is the...

y type 3 way wiring connector

I never thought this topic would be so lively. Hmm.. For my next topic I was thinking of "Ford versus Chevy... which is better?"

y type 3 way wiring connector

I am installing a Dyna coil. The way it was set up before the primary power feed wire is black/white wire and ended in a double bullet connector. From the double connector two black/white wires went out (one to each coil) My double connector had been heat damaged and was suspect, so I cut it...

y type 3 way wiring connector

I am installing a Dyna S to my 77 Goldwing and find myself in need of a 3 way. I am pretty new to rebuilding a bike so have rather limited knowledge. I have seen the y type 3 way like seen here https://www.amazon.com/JT-Products-2187H-Insulated-Connector/dp/B002UZUL0C But I am not sure what...

Dyna S or Hondaman Transistorized Ignition?

Well I made a decision- although maybe contrary to popular opinion here I went with the Dyna S, mostly due to simplicity in setting it up. I plan to replace it with the C5 next spring, so this is really a stop gap fix of sorts, and the Dyna can be re-sold to get back some of the cost then...

Dyna S or Hondaman Transistorized Ignition?

So- I have a 77 Goldwing with the points system. In my quest to find the cause of the ignition issues I replaced both points with new ones, spark plug caps, condenser, and spark plugs. Well I finally figured out thanks to the helpful guys on this board that my coils have gone out and I am at...

    Replacing Coils 1975 GL1000

Now I am starting to see why people tend to just recommend going with a whole ignition system like the Dyna S or C5 instead of pieces parts. Just saves a lot of headache trying to figure out all the details.

    Replacing Coils 1975 GL1000

The ballast resistor Hondaman sells is made specifically for this task coupling newer more powerful coils (Dyna Dc1-1) with the old points systems- https://sohc4shop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=44 I have been researching the heck out of the subject recently and I haven't run...

    Replacing Coils 1975 GL1000

I am in the exact same position as you right now, 1/2 coil is shot on my 77. The way I figure we have about three options 1- Keep the points, swap the coils with Dyna 3 ohm Coils with this resistor- https://sohc4shop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=44 total cost around $150 2-...
