Dan had issues with a stock pump that disappeared with a new car fuel pump. Maybe you need a bit more fuel fed to it to get it right?

Dan?? elaborate?
I have installed a car pump before on my gl1200 and it did seem to run better. might try that.

Yes it seems the car carbs require more fuel pressure than stock carbs do ....when you look at the parts car carbs are much beefyer ...seems my bike got the same way when I raised the compression ratio of the motor ...it was right on the edge it seemed before that ...after trying copper head gaskets and that not working end result was higher compression and bike would drain the carb bowl dam near instantly ...I think all SCC bikes should have matching fuel pump

Ordered a 1985 Honda prelude fuel pump. Also, I checked the tracking of my seat and it is finally in the USA , NYC to be exact :music: all the way from Vietnam

That is unusual for an Asian export like that to arrive in NYC (unless the ship was re-routed). Normally, those items arrive on the West coast. Otherwise, that container made a real long world trip stopping at many, many ports before NYC (with the actual docks being in New Jersey).

Is the Prelude fuel pump for a carb or FI Prelude. I ask this question because an FI fuel pump is designed to provide the fuel system with a minimum of 35 to 40 psi if not more depending to service the FI system. The fuel pump for a carbureted GW is rated at approximately 3 to 5 PSI. If you are getting a fuel pump designed for an FI system, you will have to find a way to regulate the fuel pressure down to that required.

Just a thought.

Cheers

Took me a long time to get out there too.

Okay. Fuel pump arrived. years ago i installed the same pump on my 1200 and it was an easy swap, since the 1200 has an electric pump too. Different story with 1100, so here is my question. Do i just plug the inlet and outlet ports on the stock pump and leave on bike or do i take it off. I'm thinking leave it on.
i will then have to fab some brackets for the prelude pump . I got the pump for the 1.8L prelude and i believe the prelude is carbureted so this pump should be okay.
Has anyone mounted an electric pump on a gl1100 that can show some pics of possible locations?

I'd just run a hose from inlet to outlet and leave it in place. Pump could possibly be frame mounted with conduit clamps.

Might arrive at doorstep today, fingers crossed. Now if i can get this pump on and see if i can dial in carb

Seat arrived !! This is the 2nd order from a different company since I gave up on the first. I'm very pleased with this. Beautiful fit and completes the look I was going for.
Just a quick recap and lesson learned if you are wanting the same look. I initially ordered from motorcycleseatsdirect.com which is not on ebay. I should have seen the red flags as their only contact is via email. I ordered that seat on May 12th ,2017 and am still waiting. I did receive an tracking # from them 2 weeks ago but the seat still has not left vietnam.
Being Mr. Impatience, I decided to go with an ebay vendor named "Daytrader" and contacted them before ordering. I asked a few questions and then ordered the seat exactly 4 weeks ago to the day. This is also based out of vietnam and the owner assured me i would receive it in 4 weeks. Again, I'm very pleased with the look and craftsmanship and its comfy too :rocks:
