They followed me home, can I keep them?

So I get the "tank" off and find this:
140917_0000.jpg

Someone has rigged this wing with air pressure controls! Someplace under all this plastic there must be an air pump and solenoids!

Fresh gas, battery, shot of starting fluid and
:music: IT'S ALIVE! :music:
It won't come much off idle without stalling. Tomorrow I'll clean the spark plugs and see if that helps but odds are it's the carbs. At least I can demonstrate that it runs which is more than I got. It needs a brake fluid res. cap and then I could actually try moving it. Anyway, I can now be pretty sure I can sell it for at least what I paid for the two, maybe a bit more for my trouble. That will be after I yank off the front stand and maybe the dipstick too. It leaves me with a free parts bike and the nifty front stand. The parts bike has the full Aspencade panniers which I was looking for, they'll go on Wing #1.

I wouldn't trash the light bar on the back, I like those. I wonder if they fit a GL650I?

I'll keep that in mind. It's sure not going on mine, I'm not a fan. Oh, I forgot to mention both of them have trailer hitches. I'm keeping the one on the parts bike and I could be convinced to sell it off the other one. Should I ever get a trailer I'll put it on but I'm still excited about the idea of a sidecar.

gee seems great purchase so far ... id stick with it the bike may be a diamond in the rough

I really would like to keep it but:
1 storage is already tight and an Interstate takes up the space of two bikes
2 need heating oil $ for the winter
3 already have another unfinished one and now I have more to do on it transferring parts
4 there will be another (or so I keep telling myself!)

I missed a great chance at a clean and cheap Silverwing a few weeks ago  . I'd really like to get one of those to play with. Of course if I'd gotten that I wouldn't have had room or funds to get these.

Wing #1 is getting the front stand, big panniers (which I've been hunting for), and probably the dipstick from these two.

No active makers of the front stand that I know of at this time.

Allllllrighty then. It will be removed, measured, and possibly reproduced. What did they sell for?
Love to know the measurements! Question, does it lift the rear wheel or just steady hold the bike upright?

It's on the front of the bike. Might raise the front wheel a bit but not the rear. These are also called drive off stands.

It takes maybe 1/4 of the bike's weight. It lifts about 2", not enough to get the front tire off the ground. It's also much wider than the center stand. Because it's so wide and still has both wheels touching the ground it's extremely stable. A bump that would knock over a bike on the center stand won't. I want one of these on every bike!

yes there great ...i like mine a lot ...but it can be rater hard to get on stand too if the ground varies much ... i want one thats powered ...now that would be nice .....another good thing is you just cant leave your stand down ...thats good for people like me :hihihi:

I've NEVER taken off with my sidestand down.... :whistling:

I've been kicking around that very idea. I wanted to put a tiny air compressor and a small tank on for my own shocks and filling tires on mine and other's bikes. So I said to myself, "Self, if you already have source of compressed air, you can use if for other things...." the most logical being the stand.

DRAT :cheeky:
I cleaned and gapped the plugs, checked to verify they all sparked, and that bike wouldn't start at all. It would fire for a few seconds and quit when the ether was used. It's just not getting any gas. It ran better yesterday before I touched it! I can't imagine what I could have done that would make it worse!

Running it with old dirty half gummed up gas can do just that. Smell the gas in the tank. Look inside for rust and see if the fuel filter is plugged.

Sounds like the carbs are all gummed up now or the fuel pump is no longer working :(
