Sheesh! Whata PITA!
I just don't understand what you tornado and hurricane specialists have against earthquakes.

The nice thing about an earthquake is that it usually lasts a short period of time and then a few aftershocks. It has been raining for 12 hours and they are predicting rain for another 24 - 36 hours.

Hey do you think the subways can flood?
Okay...lets think this one through for a minute....... the subways (not the sandwich shop) run under the East River and the Huson River which both rivers are considered "sea level". The tunnels, being below the rivers makes them "below sea level". Only because they come up on either end do they not normally flood (plus they do have pumps running 24/7 during normal operations). Raise the sea level 10'-12' and now the tunnel entrances are wide open for flooding!

Standing in the water would be a "shocking" experience! :smilie_happy: :fishin:

A storm this size is 500 miles really far enough away? It isn't only the wind that can cause the problems.

My point was sure we here on high ground in Canada will be inconvenienced with some inclimate weather. But my thoughts and concerns are not for my shed that may lose some shingles. My thoughts and concerns are for those in its path that are hunkered down in their basements. Don't get me wrong I may lose a tree and if I am really unlucky i may have a flooded basement but the guys on the coast may be scrambling for safety.

Ok Ok I play chess and my friend Joe Drum just set me up for a check mate....Joe don't eat so many beans maybe it won't be so windy there in Indiana... :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :clapping:

Hope you all east of us are hanging in there, we got wind here and some rain nothing really bad yet, flood watch's and high winds until tomorrow (Tue. evening)

Well I made it through the night with electricity... I am one of the lucky ones. Only lost one branch from a tree in the back yard and so far no water in the basement - I think this is because it has been somewhat dry around here and the rain wasn't as torrential as it could have been - the same can't be said for areas 10 miles South of me though.

I posted this elswhere last night:

"Captain...we 've got water comin in!"

Our window wells have filled up from the wind driven rain and have begun leaking through the perimeter of the windows!!

Quick waterproof caulk around the windows and makeshift covers for the wells and we seem to have the water under control!! (Where's the darn bilge pump when ya need one!!)

Today we are accessing damage. My home is OK, but NJ and NY are really bad! :crying:
(And yes Beav.....the subways flooded)
