The thing that really got me was it was my first bike. I spent an entire riding season wrenching on it, desperately trying one fix after another so I could finally got on the road for what was going to be my first season ever. Never happened. Its fall already and even if I get a bike now I...
That is a very generous offer indeed, but right now I am kinda burnt out on wrenching for a bit. I spent so many hours working on it just to have it not even run in the end, honestly I just want to start with a known good bike this time.
Just want to add, since I can't seem to edit my original...
Thanks- I am not out of the oldwing world though- I am going to save up some money and get another 75-77 GL1000, although this time I think I will pay a bit more to get one already running good :)
Well after a long summer of trying everything I could to restore my 77 GL1000, I am throwing in the towel. :( Turns out the compression was not good (less than 100 each side). So I am selling the bike locally for parts, but I have a few of the upgrades I was installed to try and revive the...
Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but... would that increase the electrical draw by a significant amount? I know that we are dealing with not a lot of extra juice on the oldwings so we have to be careful of every little bit drawing extra power.
Thanks, finally found an article that explained it. I should be able to just wire in the power and ground and leave the brown wire (running lights) just hanging> It will still just act like a regular 2 wire turn signal that way.
I bought a neat aftermarket turn signal set from Ebay a couple of weeks ago. It came today and I really like it, except for the fact it has 3 wires, and my Gl1000 only has 2. I made sure when I bought it that the picture showed 2 wires, but its from China so its not worth trying to return...
What I am wondering is if take this style of manifold
I wonder if the square single barrel side of this style of adapter would fit diagonally and allow us to use a Weber carb with the above style of manifold
Okay its fixed. I started checking out the kill switch. Power was going into it, but nothing coming out. Which kinda pointed me to the switch being bad. So I took it apart and it was kinda corroded. I cleaned it up and bam! Power restored. Bonus was that that the kill switch is one more...
Correct, power is good going to the stop switch, but somewhere after the switch it dies. Or maybe even in the switch? Only one wire comes out of the switch, that is the black wire with white stripe that feeds the coil, and its dead.
I am very confused right now. I bought a Dyna S unit complete with coils to solve the ignition issue I was having on my 77 Goldwing. Problem I am having is with the power supply line that feeds the coils (black with white stripe)
Background. On the original wiring harness there is the...
I am installing a Dyna coil. The way it was set up before the primary power feed wire is black/white wire and ended in a double bullet connector. From the double connector two black/white wires went out (one to each coil) My double connector had been heat damaged and was suspect, so I cut it...
I am installing a Dyna S to my 77 Goldwing and find myself in need of a 3 way. I am pretty new to rebuilding a bike so have rather limited knowledge.
I have seen the y type 3 way like seen here https://www.amazon.com/JT-Products-2187H-Insulated-Connector/dp/B002UZUL0C But I am not sure what...
