I checked on center stand, was overfilled. Drained some out. likely half a quart or more.

checking on side stand. I think it shows at the top line when i do the oil change but not sure of that. no smoke when riding. Some smoke on start up as many of these do. only leak is the shift shaft but not that bad, the new seal did not fix that issue. someone scarred up the seal area...

Mine seems to be using oil. How much do the rest of you have to add and at how many miles. Seems i may have been down a quart over 2000 miles. seems high.

those are ugly. Rest assured if you do them right the bike will run so very nice. Mine wasnt very bad at all but it made big difference after i finished with them. Have to try very hard to get the primary buzz

Hard to believe that 79 lbs would actually put flat spots in them. It could be that the upper race had small defects. It did have roller marks in it that i brused out with brass brush. Bike did sit for 20 years or so. The steering head has been apart before, the top nut was all scarred up...

Ill replace the races and see if that does it, if not then will order new bearing kits again.

Im putting front end back together, did not take prior photos though they may not have helped. Im looking at wire and cable routing. Wasnt right from prior owner. Do any of you have photos of the front end with cowl removed so I can see how wire harnesses and all cables are routed. I did...

Oh and by the way it took it all apart to service the speedo and tach, try to stop shaky needles. Wound up taking whole front of the bike off while i was at it. Ordered new steering neck bearings and should be able to reassemble this weekend if they show up on time. Getting the All Balls...

Thats what i thought. I will however open it up one more time to verify that the main ground wire is attached to the regulator, think i attached one wire from speedo and one from the tach to the regulator, not sure its attached to the main bundle. Regulator may be isolated via paint as I bead...

I took apart the instrument cluster on 82 gl1100. I did not take photos or notes on the wire harnesses. I am confused on all the green wires and the regulator. Which green wires go to the regulator? Also what is the little fuse looking thing inside of the speedo?
