Sounds like a good start. I just don't know which freeway in LA that you can only run at 60-65 mph :smilie_happy: Maybe the Rats Nest would of gotten much better mileage if I could of just found those freeways

Thanks Slab

Ok i have internet again, it was down for a day or more.

I tried jumping across the main cable bolts on the starter solenoid/relay and it fired right up earlier.

This was a new Chinese starter solenoid.

Anyone buy a good starter solenoid that lasts longer than a few months, maybe even several years, or more?

Jump the heavy posts of the solenoid. If it cranks it's a bad solenoid.

Dan,

Was that mixed primary and secondary riding or just primary riding?

What Mileage did you get with the 4 carb rack

Back from my mpg test ride.
Mostly freeway at 60-65 with about 20 miles on surface streets.

168 miles on 4.1 gallons= 40.9 mpg

Was hoping for better but this is a good sign and means I'll be tweaking my 1" runners.
Steve83 had a great idea how to solve the too small pipe for the vw plenum outlets.

40.9 mpg is very good I see people on other sites getting as low as 36-38-mpg US, and a few getting 42 and i have seen 44mpg, not sure if that 44mpg was US or imperial mpg, with 4 carb rack.

That is better than Badorderbob said that he was getting with his 32/36DGV, but he may ride like a mad monkey, I know I get those days where keeping the bike in my lane can be tough as I am maxing out through the twisties.

I have scared my self on several occasions.

I want to continue my MPG tests

If I dont get a Starter solenoid for a few days i will take a screw driver with me in case it quits at least i will be able to start it, if i dont have a hill.

Dang cheap solenoids, with six you get eggroll

All in the primary and less than 1/2 bore throttle, mostly about 1/4 bore.
Best I've been able to get from the stock rack was 43.

OK you were going for economy.

You may be able to tweak the jets to get better MPG, there is a fine line between economy and performance, Performance you will be richer than you will be for economy, in carburation, FI is different.

But we are all still in the fine tuning stage, with our 32DFT.

For me personally, I may go a little leaner, but i want to keep my bike at the highest performance, that can be had while being as efficient as possible.

I do not want to sacrifice performance for economy.

I can live with 40MPG since OEM 4carb rack is approx. 40-MPG, But if I get better then Great!!

43mpg for the Stock OEM 4 is good.

Almost any solenoid can be used but some like the ford solenoids need to mounted on insulation as their mounting is the ground.

Thank you slab,

I am going to pick up a ford solenoid in the morning, from Napa.
so i can go forward

I have been repeated mpg test back to my home from Bradenton trip. Yesterday I came home and checked 134mi away again. During the return trip, the Enterprise came with 335lbs without baggage we carry my wife and me. We maintained a speed ranging from 55-65mph most of the way and occasionally we reached the 70-75mph.

This morning I set out to drive to see where it came without refueling. When the fuel gauge needle touched the red area, quickly switched to reserve mode. (173.7mi)

I headed off to the nearest garage to refill and these were the final numbers:

I'm not good at math, so any mpg estimate will be appreciate.

That's great Angel!
Your rider weight is over 100 pounds more than me and you got 5 mpg more than me.
Awesome!

My bike has always had a good gas mileage. With the carb rack she sometimes offered to 195mi. With all the favorable conditions such as wind direction, type of road and driving always rather conservative. My wife told me he was satisfied with the performance of fuel for the power that has the bike right now. So we are both satisfied.

45.5mpg is great! Especially considering todays lousy fuel mix.
Yeah, I'm jealous.
At least I'm getting 40 so there's hope :beg:

45.5 MPG!!! awe lets round up to 46MPG

That's a gimme

NICE!!!

My bike is naked, with everything removed, and i only ride solo on My GL11

So My 51MPG was not to far off from yours Jungo.

I have not been able to ride, to get this current tank finished.

I replaced my starter Solenoid, with the ford unit, thanks slab.
