Just rolled into the driveway, had to wait out rain in Malvern, Arkansas, but made it home. Due to the floods and rain cut our trip to 1,000 mi. round trip. Bikes never missed a beat.....Single Carb ran Great.
The Motorhome is also a single carb,,,,,belongs to the Kids,,,,,they were waiting on us to get home alive, so they could leave on vacation with a clear conscience......
After my last bitch session in december and re-reading this thread,im ready to copy dkl's build.i pulled the carb rack off my spare motor and im gonna do dkl's build to the letter except im going to use my 2 into 1 adapter under the dft carb.lets hope it goes well
Gonna take both bikes on a trip this week-end. Camping in Texas, pulling trailer with 81 single carb. Should tell the tale on this trip. Wish us luck,,,,,,,keep the tow-truck Handy.
Everything in picture was hauled with black 81 PVC scc. 250 miles to Caddo Big Cypress Swamp. Ran great, but mileage dropped to 34 mpg, but pulled like a race horse.
We are getting ready for a 5 day camping trip the week of Oct 12. Taking both bikes, and pulling the trailer. Plan to camp at Beavers Bend, and make a big loop on the Talimena Trail and where ever the road takes us. Single Carb on the 81 is still doin' its' thang...No Problems.
P.S. Here are some pictures of the PVC Manifold I plan to put on the 82 when the Factory Carbs go South. It is same design, but I have twisted the 45s just a little less than a 1/4 inch going into the 5 way Tee, this gives the runners correct angle to fit in the Manifold Ells, this eliminates using the flex PVC for runners. Everything is still 1". (simpler and Cheaper)
