Hey DKL,

Nice manifold build, Have you considered using a 1-1/2" id 5 position tee,

and Not cut the 45's but glue the outside of the 1"ID 45's directly into the Id of a 1-1/2" id of the 5 position Tee,as the measurements should be very close for the 1" ID 45's od to fit into the 1-1/2" ID tee' ID in two positions.

Then use a short piece of 1-1/2id tube as a reducing spacer, the length of the tee's position length for that leg, and your 1" id straight pipe directly into that for your runner lengths.

This would provide a small amount more volume in using the 1-1/2" id. 5 pos. Tee, but retain the speed of the 1" ID tube in the runners.

You would have more material, and maybe a stronger glue joint, being glued on the 2ea 45's to the 5 Pos. Tee, instead of cutting them short.

As the throttle bore on my weber 34 ICT carb is 1-5/16" or slightly larger than 1-1/4", so at a 1-1/2" ID on the carb entrance of the 5-Pos. tee, using a 1-1/2" flange mount on the top of the Tee, may be a closer more open fit, as with any single carb. manifold, testing would have to be done.

I like the idea of the ridged tubing.

I had the Flex tubing (when I was using flex tubing) on my bike go flat when under Hard throttle, dont get me wrong it ran good, Hard throttle is addicting, (that's what she said) and believe me it was a hand full, to give a torquey single 2 barrel Goldwing, full throttle with only one hand on the bars and the other trying to feel around to see if the tubing was going flat under hard acceleration.

Something else to think about.

I am going to try this on my 84' GL1200.

I saw that Home Depot sells the 1"id 5 position TEE's a package of 4 ea I believe for $12.80 for the 4pcs, so $3.20ea. seems like a good price, but at least at my local HD it said free shipping, if shipped to local store, but they had No store stock and had to bring them in from a distribution center.

only problem i see here west is 1200...this system seems to work good on 1000s and 1100s ....but the 1200 intake horns are not 90 degrees and wouldnt line up and are smaller

I have a extra set of 1100 manifold horns for my 1200

that trike will be the project that will have the single carb using the GL1100 stub manifolds.

The Single Valkyrie Seat will be spring mounted for more suspension, seat will be mounted Low, a little higher than the picture but lower than stock.

Fuel tank moved forward and Lower that it is in the picture.

West-the Flex Pvc is Sch 40, and is very solid, collapsing has not been an issue at all,,,,sagging a little from weight of Carb and a fully loaded tool tray was a small issue, but a wood shim under Tee with a rubber pad solved problem.

I first started with a 1 1/4 set-up and it was fine......but the 1" was much more responsive, and idles Great. Only sacrifice is after 90 there is no more jump....but I don't go over 90. This could be from the 34-3 single barrel, or small air filter, I am not a carb expert.

Thanks Julimike for the tips on our road trip

Even a downhill run will look like you're going uphill. Judging by the pictures.

Everything is sitting on dolly's, engine height would be lower as it is to high, and front suspension is to Low, this is a project and nothing's in stone yet.

I also thought about Moving the single seat to the front of the trike, right over the front axle/suspension, the seat would be low, and using the front of the frame as the adjustable tilt seat backrest, and a long Low rear fender.

But i will start a new thread about that.

Anyone know what the fuel pump rating is in PSI fuel pressure, in my service manual volume by time is all that i see listed.

In both the GL1100 & GL1200

On some of the VW carb. tuning site's they recommend no higher than 2.5 psi fuel pressure and use adjustable fuel pressure regulator to make sure, or they say you can run into carb. issues, with single solex's and single webers.

GL1100 carbs are 2.5 psi,,,,,I think.

I have a new Electric Fuel Pump from 85' honda prelude (Carb'd version) waiting for the SCC on the 84' GL12.

I am not sure what the 85' Prelude carb'd version fuel pump pressure is, and will have to put a gauge on it to see before i worry about getting a fuel pressure regulator for it.

Have three of those pumps on my 1200's, couldn't be more pleased. Airtex made a pump for that car as well. Their spec was, minimum pressure 2psi, maximum pressure 3.5psi, if your needle & seat valves are any good at all, you should be fine :good:

its all about the carb now ...what a 1200 stock bike needs for stock carbs for fuel pressure means nothing

I agree what ever carb is being used, that should determine the fuel pressure.

I will keep that info the back corner, dark spot of my mind, to answer, why does this run poorly.

Just got back from 700 Mile round trip, Beavers Bend State Park, Talimena Byway, Harrison, Hot Springs. Single 81 pulled trailer smooth as silk...82 stock carbs hydra- locked 3 times....Ran OK but smelled rich. It was not fun pulling plugs on Talimena Trail.
Carb kit or single?????

Worse case on a set of carbs that have been running well, & then start having seeping fuel issues. :Awe: Can be put right, by new needles, seats, & float bowel gaskets. :hi:

I am not gonna do anything rash,,,,Carbs also developed a rattle when she started in first gear.....My plan is pull carbs, clean, & bench sync........
