Today's update. Spent some time yesterday replacing the ballast in one of my 8' florescent lights in the garage. Then Mama decided we needed to go run around antiquing....so no actual work done on the Turd. :nea:
Today I went and bought new bulbs for ALL of the florescent lights in the garage , and installed them. I CAN SEE!!! :yahoo:  With the cold weather coming on, I need to be able to be out there with the door closed. With only ONE of the 4 lights working, it was not happening. Now, I am completely bathed in bright light while I work. :good:

Got both heads torn back down, and the new valve seals installed....again, and the cams installed with new cam seals.

Cut a gasket for the chrome rear cover on the left side head.
Did a small amount of polishing on one of the valve covers, trying to decide if I want to paint them, or polish them. Think I'm going with the polished look....just looks so purdy all shined up.

I am going to paint the engine block black, and the bolt on stuff(trans/clutch covers, etc) with Cast Blast aluminuminum. Water crossover tubes and t-stat housing will be Stainless Steel paint, for a nice contrast. Taking my time...no real hurry. :builder:

Boy those heads would look so nice with some high lift 75-77 cams in them! Hint Hint! :builder:

Before I read Steve's remark I thought that head is pretty. You do nice work.

~O~
It does look pretty, even after my remark. Nice work, indeed, Joel!

 Tanx fellers... :thanks: It helps having a cleaning machine to do all the hard werk, tho.

And no...not doing a cam change...I don wanna, and you can't make me... :cheeky:
:hihihi:

However..... :whistling:

Silly wabbits...those aren't mine... :whistling: Those belong to another member here. The pic came up in the "Random Image" thingy. They are in a thread by "shierh" from last year. Did give me some ideas, tho.

And we were supposed to know this how? Painted will look nice but that is one flashy paint scheme in the pic.

Have you met me or seen my ride? :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: The only thing flashy on my bike is the smile on me face as I'm riding....

I do want it to look nice when I'm finished, tho. It won't stay that way, but it sure would be nice to be able to ride and not be embarrassed by my 'Wing for it looking like doo-doo....which it normally does. :hihihi:

We have not met. That said we are much the same though. At most I wipe dew off and clean the shield. I like shiny bikes but they all belong to someone else.

Dude! It always has new tires and they make any bike look better. ♡

Just a quick update while dodging tornaders around here....
Got the engine outside finally, and Gunked it up. Two cans of Gunk, a lot of brushing & scraping got me to this point...semi-clean. Guess I need to hit the dang thing with brake cleaner to get the rest of it off, so I can paint it. Hoping to get the block painted tomorrow. :beg:

Got a few other things painted, too. I kinda like the oil filter can...black, with sanded off fins...

Did a wee bit of polishing on one of the valve covers with the buffer. This is gunna take some TIME...so it's getting put off for a while, until I get the heads and stuff back on the engine. Can't see much in the pics, but the lower right side of the right side vc has a mirror finish on it....looks like chrome. Used the brown rouge on it. Next step is white, for the final spit-shine. Will also be polishing the timing belt covers, and the intake tubes.
