Ok - I have gone too far and humbly , publicly apologize. No more avatars from me. I guess my sense of humor is my downfall.

The many vagaries of the English language cause ambiguities which can lead to unintentional misunderstandings . Shove that in your pipe and smoke it : :head bang: :  Is this avatar acceptable? or am I taking the piss again?

I may appear to be upset but am not. Just a little peeved that the original thread was locked thus preventing me from giving a reply. I know that this is a family friendly forum and the avatar that appeared to give offense was suggested by my g/daughter who thought it was funny. My choice was...

I tried altering it to a non offensive route but still funny. Would you rather I go away? OK -- no worries. I can always disappear === poofff ,,, now you...

    Copper head gaskets?

I even approached Randakk's Cycle Shakk but he is not agreeable . His response is :-"I've tried that on my supercharged GL1000. I do not recommend. It created very hard to resolve nuisance coolant leaks. You must also machine "oring" grooves in the head and/or block ...very difficult!I...

I had not thought of that - thanks.

    Copper head gaskets?

Has anyone made head gaskets out of soft copper sheet? Many old British motorcycles used this material instead of the OEM that Honda supply and one of its great strengths is that it can be re-annealed and reused .

With regards " timing " -- I mean VALVE timing. The "T" on the crankshaft should be aligned with it`s mark when the cam belt wheel is aligned with the corresponding mark on the cover. Agree with post #21 - crank engine by hand to check everything is aligned correctly. Even cranking with starter...

Old Goldwings on the Freeways, how does yours do?

I use an 83 model and at 70mph she runs at approx 4k. Gives me about 42 mpg and could roll along all day at high rpm if needed. Somehow flat four motors feel lazier than transverse engines for the same rpm. Might be psychological am not sure - just that it feels right at this speed ( not rushed...
