I just found out a very long time friend of mine is in ICU after a massive stroke.
Details are sketchy right now, water on the brain. Had a surgery to relieve that and been unconscious since yesterday.
He is in Reno.
Hoping for the best of course but if he passes the wife and I will be heading out there which means I won't be able to make this meet.
Hopefully will know more soon and he improves.

well, i am in Australia , but i will miss this gathering by a couple of weeks. we will be in Vegas in October then have a week or so of driving
round, not going anywhere in particular, except the Boss wants to see Disneyland before we leave. might have been interesting to see a Goldwing gathering , not too many on the road here. well, not old ones anyway.

My friend, Mike was taken off life support yesterday evening and he died at 12:55 am this morning.

I hope to know soon the arrangements.
When his wife died the family has a closed funeral for immediate family only then the following month a memorial get together for everyone.
These plans will decide if I make the meet.

So sorry to read of your loss. I just found out yesterday my aunt died the 22nd. No one even told me she was ill. I hope Mikes kids have long and healthy lives.

Sorry to hear that, Dan. Positive thoughts for his family, and for you and his other friends. It's never easy.
+1

I have decided that I will not be going out to Reno and my plans are to make the meet.

We are looking at hotels and my wife is thinking to come along driving the Burb. I'll be on the bike.

Looking at rooms.....
I like Sam's Town.
It's pretty safe security wise leaving the bikes in a parking garage.
Their nightly for that weekend is $115.
There are cheaper places but I'm concerned about security and I like a clean place to sleep in, and the covered parking is great. Lot's of motorcycle spaces right up front.

We haven't made any reservations yet because I want to hear other's plans, if anyone has made any reservations yet so we could all stay together.

Last year Dan we stayed at Mandalay Bay for $80 per night for the three of us. It was a special that my brother Kim passed on to us from online membership. I seem to remember if you join up to some of the Casinos websites that they often have pretty good deals. I wasn't that impressed with the room or the walk to the parking lot ( valet was good but took longer than the walk) but the girls enjoyed the shows and night clubs. I actually preferred the Sage Motel in Newcastle Wyoming. Recently renovated with all the mod cons in the room ( fridge that you could use, microwave, jug and coffee making items) with heaps of fresh towels and plenty of hot water. 75 cent coke machine and $1.25 bags of ice :good:
Not much of a view once you look past the bikes :smilie_happy:
$66 per night

Dan, Sam's Town is a great choice and just minutes from my apartment, another good choice is Sunset Station, covered parking with security on bikes at all times and is literally down the street from my place.

There is a grill area next to my place too, we could meet here. I could host a BBQ.
