    GL1100A with CSC Friendship 1

Got my bike back from C. Stanley Motorsports where I had an early California Side Cars Friendship 1 installed. Learning to ride all over again. Claude insisted that I get 30 minutes of training before I left. The basics were covered, learned to turn, learned to fly the car a little and what...

    Custom 15" rear wheel

While my bike is at C Stanley Motorsports I decided to have Harry Tarzian make one of his custom 15" rear wheels for my GL1100A so I could use a car tire on the rear to maximize tire life while running a side car. Harry is the only one in this country that makes a 15" wheel conversion for the...

    Velorex 700 side car

Is a Velorex 700 sidecar heavy enough, robust enough to use with an 82 Aspencade?

Do side cars require a title?

Just looked at a sidecar on ebay. Asked the guy if he had a title, said that they weren't titled but considered an accessory. What's the scoop on this?

    Need one rear air shock

Was rebuilding the air shocks on my 82 Aspencade and discovered that one of them had serious grooves in the part of the shock where the seal rides up and down. Now I know why the rear was leaking. Oh, I installed Progressive's replacement springs, can run the shocks flat now if I need to...

    Rear Shock Spring Compressor

Here's my rear shock spring compressor I made from information gleaned form CGW. Went to Ace Hardware got a 2" galvanized pipe floor flange, cut the neck of as instructed elsewhere on this forum. Use a stainless steel mirror bracket from an ambulance for the bottom piece. I'll find out in the...

Grocery Shopping with a GL1100 Aspencade

I bought my GL1100 for the following reasons: 1. To be a sidecar tug 2. To save gas 3. The price of admission...

    Best anti-freeze for GL1100

What brand of anti-freeze have you all had the best luck with? I've heard that phosphate free anti-freeze is recommended, water pump failure is the result if not heeded. What's the real deal on this issue?

    Seafoam Fuel System Cleaner

I read about Seafoam fuel system cleaner on another site. My 82 Aspencade had an off idle bog, as long as I held the throttle in this position the engine stutter. This is also the same positon I hold the throttle at 50 mph cruise. Idle was bad until fully warmed up, at which point it would...

#4 carb float bowl removal ON THE BIKE!

My GL1100A wasn't idling properly. Culprit was #4 cylinder. Could tell because exhaust was cooler than others. Good spark. Good plug (swapped with #2). That left idle circuit #4 carb. Used a Phillips 2" long bit. Used a prybar to firmly engage the head and a 1/4" wrench to turn the Phillips bit...

How troublesome are the comstar wheels really?

I've read a couple of places that the comstar wheels are not the way to go. The rivets and such on my bike look good, but can you really tell? My main concern is, when I mount a sidecar, they will experience side stress which, no doubt, they were not designed to endure.

    1982 Aspencade air compressor

What is the most common problem that causes these compressors to stop working? Does the compressor piston sieze? If so, can it be freed and the compressor returned to service? The air valves seem to work okay from the control panel, the compressor just doesn't run. Where do you start with...

GL1200 front end on GL1100 for less trail

I was wondering also about the GL1200 front end because of the smaller 16" front wheel and less trail which would make steering lighter with a side car installed. A leading link front end is the ultimate in steering ease but costs $2500. Where would one go to find out if such a swap could/has...

High everybody. I'm about to buy a 1982 GL1100 Aspencade, I picked it because there seems to be alot of parts still available and they are very reasonably priced and I want it to be a sidecar tug. I need to get my 5 posts in so I can view technical data.
