Trip from AZ to NY in May 2011

the trip was way more uncomfortable than I thought it would be. Even with the Airwing seat cushion I could only go about 75 miles without wanting to pull over and get off my bottom. Made it 2450 miles , got to NY and dreaded the trip back. But I made it without any tire issues or any other major...

    valve adjustments

Hi everyone, On my 83 GL1100 Interstate....can I remove the valve covers without removing the crash bars to do a valve adjustment? Looks kinda tight to pull them out through the bars. Joe

    Slime....

Hey friends, does anyone have any experience with a product for preventing flat tires called Slime? It's a green liquid that is used before a tire has problems and is supposed to coat the inside of the tire to keep it from going flat should one run over a small object like a nail. Was wondering...

Scott's ss spin on oil filter

not yet, a bit pricey to just try it. Figured I'd get the low down on it first from those that have already bought it.

Scott's ss spin on oil filter

Really ??? Is it possible that no one out there uses that Scott's stainless steel spin on oil filter? I find that hard to believe. Was just wanting to know the good , the bad, and the ugly about it.

I need some long distance advice

you can also totally rebuild the bike, replace every part and still get stuck so a bit of faith helps too.

Randakk's oil adaptor and Scott's SS oil filter

I have an 83 Interstate with a Randakk spin on adaptor ,( which by the way is awesome), I see that Scott's makes a stainless steel spin on oil filter (#S-4) that fits that 3/4" thread size. Has anyone used that filter on the Randakk adaptor yet and if so does it leak?

I need some long distance advice

Hi, I'm also taking a AZ to NY trip in August and I feel like if you change the oil and filter (synthetic 10W-40 is better than regular oil in my opinion) before you leave and do a real close inspection of the tires looking for dry checks and any other damage, you should be good to go. Don't...

    tire pressure

on an 83 Interstate, is it preferable to go as high as 40psi on the front and rear Michelins when I'm traveling maybe 6000 miles at highway speeds fully loaded? Tire says 40psi max at full load. Or does the front always have to be lower pressure than the rear?

    Randakk grips?

only fits older wings like 81 and older with shorter grips.

    Randakk grips?

has anyone used those Randakk "Progrips" .....I know they are too short for some Goldwings but was just wondering if anyone had modified them and was using them?

    It fits....

not sure if they have 1 gallon or not but the one's I saw elsewhere all had the same width base.
  18. joecool

    It fits....

$34.00......for a gallon container? I'll stick with the Napa 2 gallon for under $9.00. Even the one gallon ones have the same width, they're just lower.

    It fits....

I'm sorry, that should say Amarillo,TX not Abilene and it's about 175 miles in between with no stations.

    It fits....

you've obviously never traveled I-40 from AZ going east......there's a place I'm told between Santa Rosa and Abilene that is about 250 miles and no gas stations
