Omega Man How can I respond when you lock the topic - even for private pm. What do you want me to do? I tried the humorous route - no joy . I tried altering it to a non offensive route but still funny. Would you rather I go away? OK -- no worries. I can always disappear === poofff ,,, now you...

    Copper head gaskets?

Has anyone made head gaskets out of soft copper sheet? Many old British motorcycles used this material instead of the OEM that Honda supply and one of its great strengths is that it can be re-annealed and reused .

    Yahoo mesneger!!

Just downloaded Yahoo messenger so that I might be able to chat to some forum members but first thing caught was a shed load of spam junk - so I am getting shut of it. Sorry Joedrum and danfillipi I do not go for that. Pity . The chat thing in this forum is not conducive for me - it is far to...

    83 Aspencade front brake.

The bleed nipple on the left front brake broke a couple of months ago and I plugged the hole with a bolt and bled the brakes from the point where the pipe connects while i was looking for another assembly. Boy are these thin on the ground but I got one in the end. In the meantime I toured a few...

    Change of devotions.

Over the last few years - 10+ at least - I have spent my time and energy between the Honda CX and Goldwing range. I can not afford to devote both my emotion and cash on both so I have made the decision to concentrate on the WING . The wing is capable of satisfying my need for both commuting and...

    How heavy ?

I got into an argument with a guy at work last week when I told him I lift the wing engine out unaided. It might take a little longer to remove and replace the heads when shifting the engine out the frame it does however make the job a whole job easier and thus safer.Since I had plans to take it...

    Starter motor clutch repair.

Hi - has anyone suffered a seized starter motor clutch? For those who have followed my thread on oil cooling the engine , the main reason behind it is because when a head gasket goes and coolant leaks into the oil the resultant sludge , unless thoroughly cleaned and purged can cause the light...

    Oil cooled?

Some manufacturers ( Suzuki , BMW ) are using oil instead of water to cool cylinders and heads. Has anyone tried to do this for our motors? I know that oil cooling will incur more of a cost compared to water but I have access to enough light weight oil to do the job just that I wonder if it has...

    Oil pressure

God !@#$ and !@#$ it -- my oil pressure has now decided not to extinguish the light after about 8 seconds from cold. I reckon the oil pump pickup is faulty but could be one of the crank journals damaged or worn. Guess I am off the road for a while but I hope not for too long as I want to tour...

    Poem

This is NOT my work - I am not that talented - but wish to share it with others. Season of the Bike by Dave Karlotski There is cold, and there is cold on a motorcycle. Cold on a motorcycle is like being beaten with cold hammers while being kicked with cold boots, a bone bruising cold. The...

    Clutch Conversion.

Hi , for those who followed my thread about stater motor problems you may be aware that I started to drift off topic and onto a clutch conversion using 1200 parts. The 1200 large rear engine case arrived today and it is a perfect fit onto the 1100 cases. Can`t wait for the clutch bits to...

    Starter motor problems ?

Is anyone out there suffering from a tired starter motor that gives the impression of a flat battery? I found a link a while ago , on a CX/GL site , that suggests modifying the starter motor earth and thought about giving it a go . The link is here if anyone is interested ...

    Air line help

Whilst working on an unrelated problem the airline that connects my air compressor to the piece under the tank ( I think it is called the air pressure sensor and is located near the header tank , black , cylindrical , has an electrical connection and two airlines that feed the suspension )...

    Ignition slip?

Has anyone ever experience a situation where the engine suddenly ceases to run and appears to have the ignition slip?. My 1983 GL1100AD suddenly went onto two cylinders then cut out yesterday. It sounds as if the timing has slipped . She wants to run , fires on four , but doesn`t run ( if that...

    1983 GL1100AD front brake caliper

Has anyone tried to put callipers off another model onto a GL1100AD? I sheared a bleed nipple off one of my front callipers and consequently bleeding is now a pain - I had to drill out the remains and insert a bolt into the hole because the base of the hole is damaged and thus refuses to seal...

    New member from England

Hi all - I am in England , Grimsby to be precise. I ride a 1983 GL1100AD that I have kitted out with the luggage from a 1200 and made a hydraulic clutch conversion. The bike started out as a standard GL1100AD UK spec . This model was not fitted with the radio equipment that the US and Canadian...
